Warren Benson
Born: January 26, 1924; Detroit, MI   Died: October 6, 2005  
Although he received a BM and an MM in music theory from the University of Michigan, Benson is a self-taught composer. He has worked as a timpanist, as well as a conductor and teacher, holding positions at Ithaca College and the Eastman School of Music. His compositions can be characterized as lyrical with colourful instrumentation.
