Notes and Editorial Reviews

Grand Victoriana here, with something high-stepping and curvaceous provocatively suggestive of footlights amid the pomp and gentility. The Masque at Kenilworth (1864) includes a setting of ‘How sweet the moonlight’ (Vaughan Williams’s text for Serenade to Music) and the Boer War Te deum incorporates Onward, Christian Soldiers for brass band. Spirited performances, clear recording, excellent booklet. '
