BE FOREWARNED October 4, 2013 By L. Marsden (Mariposa, CA) See All My Reviews "If you want to hear the music Ennio Morricone composed for these films, played AS he intended: this is NOT for you. -Solisti e Orchestre del Cinema Italiano- is nothing more than someone with a synthesizer. These so-called -complete soundtracks- are simply SYNTHESIZED with the occasional human voice, and some acoustic augmentation (primarily) in the Cavalleria excerpts included with the -Godfather Part III - Complete Soundtrack (sic)-. This is pretty terrible deceptive misrepresentation when the recordings are NOT indicated to be merely someone with a synthesizer and overdubbing, referred to as an -Orchestre.- Some patches are particularly bad, and much of the electronic ambience used (particularly on disc 5) is bizarre, clouded and bear no resemblance to real music, acoustically created. If you want to hear Morricone's work AS HE INTENDED FOR IT TO BE PLAYED AND HEARD: this is NOT for you. To hear the well-known trumpet solo Godfather main title played on a bad synthesizer by someone who doesn't even phrase with a comprehension of brass playing, well - it causes pain. And to hear Verdi's -Va Pensiero- and various Mascagni orchestral excerpts similarly abused: nothing short of aural, musical abuse. I only wish I could have given this travesty a -0- instead of a -1.-" Report Abuse
