David Ashley White, the composer to whom this album is devoted, has received much recent success. In 2015 he was awarded the Esther Farfel Award from the University of Houston and the Raabe Prize for Excellence in Sacred Composition, and was just named the American Guild of Organists’ Distinguished Composer for 2016. This release features the premiere recording of “Choral Evensong”, sung here by the Palmer Chamber Choir. The choirs of Palmer Memorial Church are under the direction of Brady Knapp. Under Knapp’s leadership these choirs have been invited to perform at regional and national conventions, and have been featured on NPR broadcasts.
