Acoustic guitar is used in traditional music around the world. The Los Angeles Guitar Quartet draws their inspiration from around the globe, performing Celtic, Brazilian and Afro-Cuban music along with original compositions drawing upon everything from reggae to Egyptian music and Homeric myths.
'Walk Dance' is based on a series of Macedonian dances with intricate time meters, usually 11/8 or 11/16. Woven through the Greek rhythms is a flamenco style, a delightful cross-cultural pollination. 'Ellis Island' is a similar experiment, taking rhythm patterns from India and expressing them in very Western ways.
