Notes and Editorial Reviews

Tsippi Fleischer's creative world establishes the fact that Israeli music has its own flavor. The listener to her music encounters tonal scenery and ancient Semitic languages, and imaginative and dramatic humanist-feminist landscapes that together form a moving exciting panorama. About these two cycles Ms. Fleischer writes: "A deeply felt urge inspired me to create these two cycles in the 90's, in spite of my having focused on the setting of fine Hebrew texts in the second half of the 80's. During the 90's, I flowed towards areas geographically far apart, and dived deep into historical eras of the Semitic East. All the ensembles and worlds of sound of these world premiere recordings are, without exception, most unusual. They are not to be Read more found in the concert hall. Every piece forming one of the two cycles is sung in a different exotic language, and I insisted on the phonetic transliteration as well as the translation of each and every one of them, in spite of the difficulties that blocked my path. One cannot deny the fact: the languages of the world have their own sound, make their own music!" Read less
