In a reversal of usual practice, producer David Merrick turned to the 1933 movie musical for this stage musical, which uses Harry Warren and Al Dubin's venerable songs -- such as "You're Getting to Be a Habit with Me," "We're in the Money," "Lullaby of Broadway" -- and the chorus-girl-becomes-a-star storyline. The result was new and exciting, almost 50 years later. Stars Tammy Grimes and Jerry Orbach.
