Biography |
by Uncle Dave Lewis
|
| English pianist Richard Burnett is a collector of vintage pianos whose home is the eighteenth century Georgian mansion Finchcocks, located in Kent, England. The Finchcocks Living Museum of Music, as it is called, has played host to many concert performances, and particularly, recordings of early music, the latter especially in the 1980s in conjunction with the English label Amon Ra. This has provided a comfortable platform for Burnett, who does not concertize outside of his own home even as he is regarded as a leading figure among players of period keyboard instruments. In 2005, Burnett published a book, entitled Company of Pianos, which profiles 63 of the instruments in his collection. |
