Organist Paul Jacobs has had several firsts in his career. He is the first organist to receive the Arthur W. Foote Award from the Harvard Musical Association in 2004. He has also received the Yale School of Music's Distinguished Alumni Award in 2005. In 2007 he was awarded the William Schuman Scholars Chair at The Juilliard School. Among the youngest musicians to hold that office. Paul Jacobs has recorded the music of J.S. Bach on the JAV Label Read more and works by Messiaen at the Church of Saint Mary the Virgin for the Naxos label.

Paul Jacobs has also won the Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Soloist Performance without an orchestra during the 53rd Grammy Awards in 2011. This was for his recording of Messiaen's Livre Du Saint-Sacrement.
