TAPESTRY presents five composers from both American continents in works for chamber ensembles involving clarinet, with one notable and curious exception. Frankie J. Kelly, a professor at Southeastern Louisiana University, organized the project and commissioned several of the pieces. She plays the clarinet in every work except the 'Preludio y danza' for solo violin of Mexican Leonardo Velazquez, which is performed by Adrian Justus. Ironically, the strongest hint of Latin American folk music is to be found in the 'Diasporan Dances' of Matthew Nicholl, while the atonal-serial 'Vida Furtiva' of Argentine Pablo Ortiz and the neoclassical Velazquez work are somewhat neutral.
