One finds a paradox in duets for flute and organ. Although at first glance this combination might seem a natural one; a melodic instrument accompanied by a harmonic one, the original repertoire for this combination remains quite limited. Does this mean that composers are afraid of not being able to differentiate between two instruments the timbres of which can be strangely similar (especially when one realizes that one of the registers of an organ is named "flute")? Or do composers fear that the notes of a frail flute will be drowned out by the sound of this most powerful of all instruments?
