Notes and Editorial Reviews

Equal parts poetry and drama, 'Voices from Spoon River' tells the story of departed souls in a small town. The performing duo known as The Golden Horn paint sweeping backdrops to the stories of the dead in Spoon River cemetery. The stories themselves are often ominous, revealing the secrets the characters' loved ones ignore in favor of kind lies chiseled into their tombstones.
Similar to Dylan Thomas' "Under Milkwood," 'Voices from Spoon River' takes its structure from the monologues contained within it. The music heightens the mood like an old radio drama. The words adapted from Edgar Lee Masters' SPOON RIVER ANTHOLOGY fit perfectly with Mark Schultz's compositions.
