Jeanne Singer, composer and pianist, is a native New Yorker who grew up on City Island, The Bronx. She began composing as a child. She majored in music at Barnard College and studied at Columbia with Douglas Moore. To date she has set over 150 poems to music as art songs, choral works and vocal-chamber music. Her catalog also includes instrumental chamber music and works for solo instruments, piano and orchestra. The selection of works on this CD, are mostly instrumental and were composed between 1969 and 1997. The inspiration for most of the music was drawn from the composer's memories of places, people and events which had deep influences on her life.
