Notes and Editorial Reviews

...how could anyone resist such engaging music? If Onslow wrote his quartets with an eye on posterity, conscious that there was a heritage he could not betray, in these two pieces he seems to have been writing with the enjoyment of his musicians as a primary consideration, and the music bubbles, sparkles, and cascades on its way—it’s informative that there’s no real slow movement in the Sextet, and that the Andante of the Septet is an easy-going reflection on its opening horn melody, as little inclined to tragedy as folk lazing in the sun. Here, too, the performances are invigoratingly bright, and the anonymous notes, though brief, are intelligent and helpful. Good sound.

Onslow an Original July 24, 2012 By Anthony G. (valley stream, NY) See All My Reviews "Let me just say that upon hearing these chamber pieces, I was compelled to listen to them daily for a week and still go back to Onslow, albeit less often, as I have so much new great music to listen to. And this is surely among them.
Listening to this cd has inspired me to search, seek, and purchase every cd that features the music that he has written. That I should wish to acquire his entire discography tells all. Why have we not heard of, and listened to more of Onslow in public recitals and recordings? Shameful neglect! An original genius whose music will never fail to entice, and to captivate your ears and senses. "
