Biography by Joseph Stevenson
Neil Jenkins is a tenor who by the end of the twentieth century had had sung in major British houses in small and characters parts.

He could be heard in the 1980 recording of La Gioconda (as First Voice), and in a 2000 release of Leonard Bernstein's White House Cantata, a resurrection (some say an exhumation) of Alan Jay Lerner and Bernstein's failed Broadway musical 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

He also sang as the Prince in Alban Berg's Lulu at Glyndebourne and in the BBC Henry Woods Promenade Concerts at Royal Albert Hall; as Mr Splinters in Aaron Copland's The Tender Land at the Barbican Center; as a Young Guard in Tippett's King Priam at the SBC in London; and, at the Welsh National Opera in Cardiff, as Reverend Horace Adams in Britten's Peter Grimes, Chaplitsky in Tchaikovsky's Queen of Spades, the Father Confessor in Poulenc's Dialogue of the Carmelites, and Arnalta in Monteverdi's The Coronation of Poppea. He has also sung in Grimes at the Paris Opéra-Bastille. He also bears the same name as one of the best-known players on Wales' rugby team.
