Nacio Herb Brown
Born: February 22, 1896; Deming, NM   Died: September 28, 1964; San Francisco, CA  
Brown was mainly a composer for films and, along with lyricist Arthur Freed, wrote the music for =The Broadway Melody= (1929), the first musical to win an Academy Award for best film. He is remembered for his songs =Singin' in the Rain= (1929) and =You Are My Lucky Star= (1935).
