One does not often run across an album of classical music written for harmonica, even among contemporary composers. FORGETFUL ANGEL is another offering from the ingenious mind of Takashi Yoshimatsu, a self-taught composer with an eclectic sense of style. With chromatic harmonica player Joe Sakimoto, Yoshimatsu presents a collection of innovative pieces pairing the harmonica with pianos, strings, guitar and even accordion.
Yoshimatsu favors slow, romantic pieces and harmonic scales. In 'Forgetful Angel II' he achieves unexpected results with the most traditional orchestration on the album: guitar and harmonica.
