Composed on a MIDI sequencer but performed acoustically by live musicians, THE DEUS EX MACHINA CYCLE is a hybrid of styles from many eras. The avant garde music is heavily influenced by Baroque tunings, contemporary microtonality and minimalist harmonic structures. The result is music that seems timeless.
Composer Elodie Lauden explores a world of influences far beyond the European tradition, yet creates a uniform whole out of the multicultural amalgam. Pulsing rhythms propel the piece forward, giving a sense of dramatic urgency to the music.
