| Timothy Cutler was born in Oberlin, Ohio and studied music at both Oberlin and Yale. Today, he is assistant professor of music at Austin College and teaches courses in music theory, ear training and composition. Michael S. Harwood was born in Buffalo, New York and studied at the State University there with Lejaren Hiller and Lukas Foss. His more than 60 compositions cover the wide variety of contemporary idioms, including jazz, theater pieces, aleatoric, electro acoustic and neo-Romantic. Jonathan D. Little studied composition and Performance at the University of Melbourne from which he graduated in 1987. Currently, he is Principal of the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford. Expressway by Charles Norman Mason was commissioned by the Alabama Symphony in honor of Arts philanthropist, Elton B. Stephens. It is an exciting, hard-driving piece that takes the listener through many orchestral textures and timbres. Alejandro Ruttyís unique output includes works in avant-garde music, standard classical repertoire, Argentine traditional music, and innovative community-based projects. He is currently Assistant Professor at Hartwick Collegeís Department of Music. He studied at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Joseph Gentry Stephens was born in San Angelo, Texas and grew up in Texarkana, Arkansas. He began studying percussion in the public schools at 10. He was educated at the University of Arkansas and the University of Northern Colorado. In the spring of 2004, he left his full time church position to work for the Bradley Lumber Company in Warren, Arkansas in an effort to clear out the ìunnecessary musical activitiesî and concentrate on his own compositions. Michael Sidney Timpson studied at the University of Michigan, the Eastman School of Music and the University of Southern California. Among his teachers have been William Albright, Samuel Adler, William Bolcom and Joseph Schwantner. Mark Volker was born in Buffalo, New York and studied classical guitar performance at Ithaca College. He also studied composition at the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music. In August, 2003, he received his PhD in composition from the University of Chicago. He is currently assistant professor of music in composition and electronic music at Colgate University. | |||||
