Mary Anne Ballard plays viols and rebec with the Baltimore Consort, as well as acting as the musicological adviser for the ensemble. A graduate of Wellesley College, where she began playing viol, she later studied viol with August Wenzinger and medieval music with Konrad Ruhland. Mary Anne Ballard plays viols and rebec with the Baltimore Consort, as well as acting as the musicological adviser for the ensemble. A graduate of Wellesley College, where she began playing viol, she later studied viol with August Wenzinger and medieval music with Konrad Ruhland. She also performs and records with the Oberlin Consort of Viols. Ballard has taught early music performance at the Peabody Conservatory, Princeton University, and the University of Pennsylvania, where she founded the Collegium Musicum.
