This disc shows why Ruffo was Ruffo December 10, 2012 By Christopher D. (Kokomo, IN) See All My Reviews "This Nimbus release makes clear why Ruffo was such a legend, considered a vocal miracle by those who'd heard every great singer. Nimbus's transfers bring out the ring and the resonance of Ruffo's voice better than any other transfers do. The overloading and distortion, the constriction that mar other (highly-regarded) Ruffo CDs are absent here; his voice peals out free and clear. Try All'erta, marinar from L'Africana or the Pagliacci Prologue and you'll see. Ruffo's phrasing is always good, always intelligent, but it's the voice itself that stuns. There's a splendor that opera lovers always have in their imagination but seldom actually hear. In Ruffo you'll hear it, and Nimbus's transfers let you hear it with perfect clarity as no other CD does." Report Abuse
