Born: January 27, 1893, Vienna   Died: December 31, 1944, Auschwitz-Birkenau   Country: Austria   Period: 20th Century
Marcel Tyberg, born in Austria but living in Italy later in his life, was a victim of the World War II Holocaust, having been deported and killed at Auschwitz. Many of his scores were trusted to a close friend who brought the manuscripts to the United States which eventually came to the attention of conductor JoAnn Falletta. His well-crafted music has been described as expressing romantic enchantment and pastoral narratives.
