Passion February 9, 2016 By David Reznick (Woodinville, WA) See All My Reviews "Somehow Cozzolani, a nun who spent her life in a convent, became imbued with the spirit of the seconda pratica; and in her hands, the languid Italian sun beats down on these Latin motets and transforms them into passionate love songs. What a revelation this music is! It can only live if performed by singers with the intellect to understand it completely and the tonal beauty and dead-on intonation to make it jump off the page. The vocal group Magnificat, directed by Warren Stewart, turns out to be the ideal interpreters. No lover of Schutz, Grandi, or Cavalli should be without this recording." Report Abuse
