Biography by Joseph Stevenson
Laurent Naouri is a leading French baritone who came to the fore in the 1990s and seeks variety in his operatic roles.

His training included studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. While in London, he performed the parts of the Theater Director in Poulenc's Les mamelles de Tirésias, Ford in The Merry Wives of Windsor, and Ferdinand in Prokofiev's The Betrothal in a Monastery. He attracted international attention in 1992 when he sang the leading role in Darius Milhaud's most ambitious work, Christophe Colomb.

He regularly sings at the Paris Bastille Opera, the Palais Garnier Opera, and elsewhere in Europe. He sings operas of all eras, from Lully's Roland and Phaëton through Gluck's Alcest and Figaro in The Marriage of Figaro in the Classical era. He also sings Offenbach's Tales of Hoffmann, Orfée aux Enfers and Le belle Hélène, as well as Massenet's Manon and the title role in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, to twentieth century parts like Tarquinius in Britten's The Rape of Lucretia and Bottom in the same composer's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
