"This is a fascinating compilation, produced my many hands, in 1997. Teresa Stratas gives Welll a wonderful flavor.
One interesting note: the original recording of Stratas' version of Youkali was done on Nonesuch in 1981. Here the recording has been overdubbed with a wonderful accordion accompaniment, making it more interesting than the rather dry rendition of just piano and the vocalist. The liner notes only mention the date of the original recording, and the names of the pianist and the accordion player.
I don't know who's idea this was, but it works extremely well.
