Biography

Kimberly McCord is an American soprano who has established a strong European career as an oratorio and opera singer. She was educated at Indiana University at Bloomington and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, England. She won a series of singing prizes in England in the United States, then attended master classes with some of the leading singers in the movement to revive forgotten Baroque and Classical vocal masterpieces, Read more including Nancy Argenta, Emma Kirkby, and Graham Johnson.

She made her earliest strong impressions as a professional in Holland, particularly at the Netherlands Opera and the Holland Festival. She has sung leading parts in such works as Handel's Messiah, Bach's St. Matthew Passion, Haydn's The Creation, and Monteverdi's 1610 Vespers.

Operatic roles in her repertoire include Naiad in Strauss' Ariadne auf Naxos, Medea in Lully's Thésée (conducted by William Christie), and the same character in Charpentier's Médée, and parts in the newer operas Writing to Vermeer and Rêves d'un Marco Polo. Read less
