Johanna Senfter, born in Oppenheim, Germany, received a considerable amount of musical training at the Hoch Conservatory in Frankfurt am Main, and later graduated as a student of Max Reger in Leipzig in 1908. She composed 9 symphonies, 26 orchestral works and Concertos for piano, violin, viola, and cello. Some of her works are noteworthy for a mastery of fugal writing. All together she left 134 works.
