Notes and Editorial Reviews

Wolfgang Hufschmidt was born on March 15, 1934 in Germany. He studied church music and composition from 1954 to 1958 in Essen. Between 1958-1968, he held posts as organist and choir director in various Essen churches, and composed numerous works for church use. In 1968, he gave up the profession of church music and in the same year became a lecturer in music theory at the Folkwang-Hochschule. He was appointed Professor of Composition at this school in 1971, and was its Rector from 1988-1996. This is not a disc for the timid. As with most of the contemporary composers on this new label, the music is very avant-garde. For your customer who wants to hear first hand some of the newest ideas in contemporary music, this is a CD to be enjoyed. Wolfgang Hufschmidt was born on March 15, 1934 in Germany.
