| The three concertos initially written for harpsichord, have survived in versions for both flute and cello. The flute part features additional breaks in the virtuoso passages to allow the soloist to breathe, but also frequent examples of genuine and highly inventive rewriting. Thus the composer's exploitation of instrumental resources is as intelligent as it is bold and innovatory, in an idiom perfectly appropriate to each of the original intended soloists. - Denis Verroust | |||||
