Featuring five contemporary compositions with distinctive Asian style, UNDER A SILVER MOON is a contemplative, serene album. The simple instrumentation of flute and harp, with the occasional accompaniment of viola and percussion, creates a delicately unfolding musical environment.
'Dance of the White Lotus Under the Silver Moon' was commissioned by flautist Susan Glaser. The fluid piece was inspired by the natural settings painted on many Chinese and Japanese screens. Composer Stella Sung creates dramatic, rapidly developing melodies, but is able to maintain the mood of serenity.
