This well-known Finnish concert and chamber music pianist began his formal studies at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, where he was a pupil of Liisa Pohjola. He then continued his studies with Klaus Schilde in Munich. Ranta has appeared as a soloist with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Lahti Symphony Orchestra, and with the Avanti Chamber Orchestra.
