Henri Pousseur

Biography

Born: June 23, 1929; Malmédy, Belgium  
Belgian modern composer Henri Pousseur has written well over 100 works in a variety of styles, and has served as a music educator for several decades. By the time he was finished with his music studies in the early '50s, Pousseur was already active in avant-garde music, influenced by and creating music not unlike that of Stockhausen and Berio. He began his longstanding collaboration with Michel Butor in the early '60s; the duo have gone on to write over 20 works, including "La Rose Des Voix" (1982).
