A moving experience .November 17, 2012By BURTON A JONES, JR. (Manvel, TX)See All My Reviews"Why is this terrific opera performed more of in lieu of some of the old "pot boilers" that get done every year? Massenet was a great composer. The cast on this DVD could not be better. I have not heard of Jose Van Dam before but he is wonderful. This was apparently his last opera before retirement. Beautiful voice and acting ability. The rest of the cast is uniformly excellent, the orchestra and conductor are also excellent and the staging is very effective. Don't miss this performance!"Report Abuse
