Notes and Editorial Reviews
This CD contains both ADD and DDD recordings.
This two-disc set featuring Luciano Pavarotti is a crowd-pleasing collection of arias, songs and duets that will satisfy die-hard fans and newcomers alike. The big arias of the Italian repertoire--"Nessun dorma," "La donna é mobile" and a glowing "Che gelida manina"--are all here. Also included are a host of Italian song favorites, such as "O sole mio" and "Santa Lucia." Rounding out the disc are duets with Cecilia Bartoli, Andrea Bocelli and Frank Sinatra.

from operas by Donizetti and a rare foray into French repertoire with arias by Bizet and Massenet. The Donizetti arias display the exceptional tonal beauty of Pavarotti's voice, along with his ability to sing a seamless legato line. The Italian song favorites are delivered with a mixture of gusto and sentimentality.
