Biography |
| This noted pianist and harpsichordist had an active career and worked with many outstanding pupils, teaching music classes at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg im Breisgau until 1979. She herself studied the piano with Rudolf Serkin in Basel and the organ with Wolfgang Auler and Albert Schweitzer. Her career began in 1935 winning 6th place in the Chopin Competition in Warsaw however she became internationally known after World War II as a soloist and chamber music musician and recorded for a number of major record labels. Her keyboard repertoire included the harpsichord music of Bach which demanded a different stylistic approach from the later eras of Brahms or Chopin. |
