Notes and Editorial Reviews

The title of this release is taken from Oblivion Soave, the beautiful lullaby from Monteverdi’s opera L’Incoronazione di Poppea. The title is meant to reflect the mood of the pieces featured on this album, calling the listener to “gently sleep.” Despite the unusual combination of bass clarinet and vihuela & theorbo, the pieces chosen for this program translate extremely well. Compositions include works by such composers as Monteverdi, Frescobaldi, Purcell, John Dowland, and more.
