Notes and Editorial Reviews
On All Souls Day, November 2, 1998, a collaboration took place between Canotres in Ecclesia and members of the Portland Youth Philharmonic Orchestra at St. Mary's Cathedral in Portland, Oregon. The two ensembles (both highly respected in their fields) joined forces for a liturgical performance of Gabriel Faure's Requiem conducted by Huw Edwards. Shortly after this gratifying experience, it was decided to record the Requiem and other sacred music by Faure in St. Patrick's Church -- the home of Cantores in Ecclesia. This is the result, and wonderful it is. The program: Messe De Requiem, Messe Basse, Tantem Ergo Sacramentum, all by Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924). -- Duration: 49 min.
