Notes & Reviews Back to Top
"It seems a tad curious that Delos chose to record the San Francisco Symphony Chorus without its sister orchestra, but the accompaniments provided by Marc Shapiro (piano) and John Fenstermaker (organ) can't be faulted. The bulk of the program is devoted to traditional tunes, including a few ethnic carols that may not be so familiar. Occasional Christmas pieces by big-name composers (Bach, Rossini, Brahms, et al.) add substance, as do commissioned works by Conrad Susa and Erik Whitacre, and a 16th-century madrigal by Luca Marenzio." -- George Chien, Fanfare
