There are so many excellent Latin American guitar music discs, and most listeners already will own personal favorites. This should become one of them, for it's as interesting, enjoyable, and well played as any. It includes some well-known pieces, such as Villa-Lobos' Chôros No. 1 (one of three "Chôro" works, including an especially fine example by Augustin Barrios), as well as lesser known but equally appealing items such as Jorge Morel's Sonatina, dedicated to Russell. Other highlights include Antonio Lauro's Seis por derecho and Jorge Cardoso's Milonga. The three short pieces by João Pernambuco are also charmers.
