Notes and Editorial Reviews
This release is more than a mere re-packaging of the classic 1987 Collegium/Cambridge Singers release (COLCD105). The entire recording has been remastered from the original session tapes, and several unheard performances have been added, including such classic madrigals as 'Sweet Suffolk Owl', 'Come again! Sweet love doth now invite', and 'As Vesta was from Latmos hill descending'. The vintage Cambridge Singers soudn is heard to best effect under John Rutter's inspired conducting, in what is still a major overview of the genre of the English madrigal.
