The Swedish composer Stig Gustav Schonberg studied at the Stockholm Music Academy where his teachers were Lars-Erik Larsson and Karl-Birger Blomdahl. Today he is known as a brilliant organist. Leonid Bashmakov was one of the many composition students of Aarre Merikanto. He has been Director of the Tampere Conservatory since 1959. He has composed most of his music for orchestra including six symphonies and seven concertos. Atso Almila shared the first prize in the Nordic conducting competition in 1981. Since that time he has divided his time between conducting, teaching and composing. The British composer Robin Stephenson brilliantly exploits the potential of the brass quartet in his Six Intradas for Brass Quartet in the neoclassical mood. Read more The composer Jukka Linkola is a composer highly familiar with the jazz idiom and is happiest writing for wind instruments. However, he has written two trumpet concertos for Jouko Harjanne, the leader of the Brasstime Quartet. Read less
