Boris Tishchenko

Tishchenko is a contemporary Russian composer and pianist who trained under the stars of the Soviet regime. Born in Leningrad, he studied composition under Galina Ustvolskaya at the Leningrad Musical College in 1954 and 1955. He moved on to the flagship Leningrad Conservatory in 1957, and in 1962 he ascended to the top of the student hierarchy when he was offered a chance to work with the master -- Shostakovich.
