Notes and Editorial Reviews

Rabinof was one of the last pupils of the legendary Leopold Auer, whose alumni had included Zimbalist, Elman and Heifetz among many other of the greatest players. Sadly, his recordings were few but his glossy tone and ability to play at astonishing velociey, while remaining clearly in love with the music, make this release of rare and unissued material from the 1940s and 1950s, particularly valuable. He is heard too with his wife Sylvia in Paganini and Handel, Szymanowski and Ravel; they formed one of the most highly regarded violin and piano duos of the century.
