Notes and Editorial Reviews
Katarzyna Mycka started playing percussion at the age of 16. Fascinated by the wealth of different sounds, she began working intensively on the wide ranging percussion instrumentarium and its often very difficult repertoire. In time she began to concentrate on the keyboard-percussion instruments, and more particularly the marimba, which she felt enabled her to express her musicality and virtuosity. The wisdom of her choice of marimba as her expressive medium was soon confirmed, with first prizes in marimba competitions in Luxembourg and Stuttgart. The majority of the works presented on this CD are world premieres and were composed and dedicated to Katarzyna Mycka.
