Arthur Bird
Born: July 23, 1856; Belmont, MA   Died: December 22, 1923; Berlin, Germany  
After early lessons from his father and uncle, Bird attended the Berlin Hochschule, studying with Haupt and Loeschhorn. He later became a friend and student of Liszt. He served as the Berlin correspondent for the Chicago journal =Musical Leader=. Bird was a late Romantic style composer and a fine contrapuntist. His works were popular in Germany, but he composed little after 1895.
