Biography |
by "Blue" Gene Tyranny
|
| This French soprano has been widely acclaimed for her evocative and passionate interpretations of music from the Middle Ages, lute songs from the Renaissance period, Baroque sacred music, and contemporary music theater. She diligently researches and transcribes the material for her many recitals and concerts, and re-creates the intimate understanding derived in this manner in performances noted for their originality and vivacity. Azéma has sung with the New York Chamber Ensemble, the Ensemble Ordo Virtutum at a concert in the Klein Comburg Kirche (Little Comburg Church) in Tübingen, Germany, and in an opera production with the M.I.T. Media Lab in Tokyo. She performs with the Boston Camerata, whom she occasionally conducts, and the Camerata Mediterranea conducted by Joel Cohen. She has performed throughout Europe, the United States, and Japan. Her teaching activities include master classes, seminars, and residencies at various conservatories and universities in France, Holland, and the U.S. |
