Outstanding collection February 10, 2013
By Thomas Huber (Crystal Lake, IL) See All My Reviews
"Where does one start when confronted with a collection like this. Here is an outstanding collection of excellent recordings from one of the premiere composers of the 20th century. Only a few minor nits to pick -- the vocal choral material is often buried, as are some of the themes in some of the recordings. Regardless, it is a real treat to find so much of the composer's work in one package and at a bargain price. Vernon Handley does a credible job with the symphonies (no complaints, other than the buried choral work in the Sea Symphony) and Sir Adrian Boult is unparalleled. There are 136 works included on the 30 CDs, including complete choral works that are sometimes hard to find. I was not disappointed with any of the interpretations in this collection and strongly recommend it for anyone wanting to add Vaughan Williams works to their collection."
