All of the music on this CD has close connections with the county of Gloucestershire. Not only was it recorded in the Quire of Gloucester Cathedral by a choir which has been consistently under the baton of successive Assistant Organists of the Cathedral since its formation in 1949, but each of the composers is also strongly linked with this most "choral" of counties. The Saint Cecilia Singers was formed in 1949 by Dr. Donald Hunt and has maintained a virtually unbroken musical directorship by successive Assistant Organists of Gloucester Cathedral ever since.
