Notes and Editorial Reviews

This CD contains the premiere recordings of Arensky's 'Cantata on the Tenth Anniversary of the Coronation' and 'Three Vocal Quartets with cello accompaniement'. Arensky studied at St Petersburg under Rimsky-Korsakov and later taught harmony and counterpoint at St Petersburg Conservatory. The distinctive and highly roamntic music of this eclectic composer reveals the influences of the work of other Russian composers as well as mainstream Western European music.
