The Aighetta Quartet was formed in 1979 in Monte-Carlo. All four members were former pupils of Pier Domenico Amerio, a disciple of Andrés Segovia and Alirio Diaz. The quartet's international career began in 1982 with a performance of Joaquin Rodrigo's Andalusian Concerto accompanied by the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra. Tours in France, Britain, Italy, Hungary and Germany ensued, as well as numerous radio and television broadcasts.
